That's what I wondered -- don't things eventually die? Or does it just keep self-replenishing? I mean the shrimpies are going to die anyway, right? But what happens after 5 years, is it just a few dead twigs? Doesn't the water dry up as well?

The water cycles, but the shrimp are actually starving to death, but hawaiian red shrimp adapt to extreme conditions, so they just shrink more and more until they eat themselves out of existence. The twigs are actually alive I think.

I like the idea of it. But if the shrimp and fish are suffering, I think I can live without it.
